The Project

Bankjoy, a growing fintech platform, wanted to strategically expand its capabilities into the rewards-based credit card space, creating enhancements to its existing banking product. When a significant opportunity arose to pitch our platform to Sears for their rewards card program, our CEO personally tapped me to spearhead the design and creative execution for this critical pitch.

My goal was clear but challenging: design compelling, realistic user experiences and UI screens—showcasing seamless integration of rewards-card features into our platform, even though many features had yet to be built. This required quickly bridging major gaps in our existing functionality through thoughtful UX design and persuasive storytelling, all aimed at demonstrating Bankjoy’s unique value proposition clearly to the Sears stakeholders.

Role & Resources

As Design Lead, I owned the full design and creative execution of this high-stakes pitch, creating everything from scratch: key UI screens and interaction flows, a comprehensive interactive Figma prototype, and a fully produced video "sizzle reel" highlighting the seamless integration of Sears Rewards and Bankjoy's platform.

I collaborated closely with our Head of Product, Product Managers, the COO, and our CEO—quickly identifying functional gaps and working iteratively with product teams to develop screens and flows aligned with current platform capabilities. With only three weeks to deliver, resources and time were tight, requiring focused collaboration, rapid prototyping, and decisive design choices.

Challenges & Results

This project was uniquely challenging. Bankjoy’s existing platform lacked critical functionality required for a seamless rewards card experience, including account opening processes, card management, reward redemption, and enhanced financial management tools. My task was to conceptualize and create entirely new, yet realistic, product screens and flows, carefully integrating them into our existing platform experience, for both desktop and mobile.

I developed extensive UI/UX flows to clearly illustrate critical user experiences:

  • Account Application: Crafting intuitive pathways from Sears’ landing pages into two distinct application experiences (standard and pre-approved), demonstrating various card options and benefits.
  • Card Management: Simplified processes for card activation, virtual card issuance, mobile wallet integration, and streamlined reward-point management and redemption.
  • Payments & Financial Wellness: Clear payment flows across desktop and mobile platforms, integrated budgeting tools, and enhanced financial wellness features.
  • Enhanced Statement Design: Redesigned statements featuring interactive rewards balance tracking, QR code scanning for instant reward redemption, and clear financial summaries.

To further elevate our presentation, I produced an interactive Figma prototype, allowing Sears stakeholders to experience our envisioned user journey firsthand, effectively immersing them into the future Bankjoy platform. Additionally, I single-handedly crafted an engaging digital "sizzle reel" styled as a Sears promotional ad, reinforcing our pitch’s key benefits and serving as a persuasive follow-up asset.

Results & Impact

Though we did not ultimately win Sears' rewards card business, the comprehensive work delivered immense strategic value. The pitch process significantly accelerated Bankjoy’s product development roadmap, enabling our team to identify and prioritize essential features to better position ourselves competitively in the fintech rewards space. Key UI screens and user experiences developed for this pitch became foundational elements in future Bankjoy product enhancements.

Following the pitch, I continued partnering closely with product leadership, refining these initial concepts and drafting detailed user stories, directly influencing the strategic direction of our long-term product roadmap.
